"Fishy" website??

During the class we were assigned a “suspicious” site that you were asked to analyze. I and my friend analyzed about the website called "Smell of Books". Link to actual "sus" website→  https://smellofbooks.com/ This website is basically selling the "smells of books". They put those smells in spray can and sell it for about $30 (the cost depends on smell). There are several types of smell like:New Book Smell, Classic Musty Smell, Scent of Sensibility, Eau You Have Cats, and Crunchy Bacon Scent. Smell of books aims to sell this for people who were left by the feeling like there’s something missing from reading e-books. But I thought the true aim of this website was to let customers buy paper book not buying the smell. Actually this site is very shady and sells the smells about $30! I thought it is better to buy books not the spray can of book smell. In the website there was a link to get those spray in Amazon, however the link doesn't exists. That means ...

What are the White House proposals?

Acording to the White House on March14, President Biden will make an executive order announcement in Monterey Park, California, with the aim of boosting the number of background checks performed before the sale of firearms and bringing the United States as near to having universal background checks as possible without additional legislation. The Executive Order will also reinforce efforts to hold the gun industry accountable, keep more firearms out of dangerous hands by enhancing the effective use of "red flag" regulations, and speed up law enforcement efforts to find and apprehend the shooters posing a threat to our communities. The Federal Trade Commission is being urged by President Biden to publish a report that examines how gun makers sell to children.

What has worked to reduce gun violence?

Several strategies and measures have shown promise in reducing gun violence. While no single solution can completely eliminate gun violence, a combination of effective approaches can contribute to creating safer communities and reducing the impact of gun-related incidents(Gregory & Wilson, 2018). Some strategies that have shown effectiveness include: 1. **Comprehensive Background Checks:** Implementing and enforcing universal background checks for all gun purchases, including private sales, helps prevent individuals with a history of violence, criminal records, or mental health issues from acquiring firearms legally. 2. **Red Flag Laws:** Enacting Extreme Risk Protection Orders (ERPOs) or "red flag" laws allows family members and law enforcement to seek temporary firearm removal from individuals who pose a risk to themselves or others. 3. **Assault Weapons Bans:** Restricting or banning the sale and possession of military-style assault weapons and high-capacity magazines...

Won't criminals kill with other weapons if they don't have guns?

The question of whether criminals will resort to using other weapons if they don't have access to guns is a complex and multifaceted issue. While it is true that individuals intent on committing acts of violence may seek alternative means, the absence of guns can have significant implications for the lethality, dynamics, and overall prevalence of violence in a society. 1. **Lethality of Guns:** Guns are highly lethal and can cause devastating injuries and fatalities from a distance. Unlike many other weapons, firearms can inflict severe harm even in the hands of someone with limited physical strength or skill. The ease of use and immediate impact of guns make them attractive choices for those seeking to cause harm quickly and efficiently. 2. **Opportunity for Violence:** The presence of guns can escalate conflicts and provide a quick and deadly means to inflict harm. Studies have shown that the mere presence of a firearm can increase the likelihood of violence in a given situation...

How often are guns used in self defense?

Wha is defensive gun use? It’s typically defined as using a firearm to protect yourself, your family, or other people from a crime. The gun could be fired or simply brandished. Examples include shooting an attacker in mid-assault or displaying a gun to discourage a burglar(Kohrman, 2022) . DGUs, as these instances are frequently referred to, are difficult to quantify. DGUs are not normally categorized by law enforcement organizations as a separate category. Although states are not required to provide these numbers, the FBI keeps track of justified homicides, therefore the data is insufficient. Additionally, the FBI statistics do not include brandishings or defensive attacks, in which someone repels an assault. Researchers who study gun violence and pro-gun advocates, who frequently use different sets of statistics, have been engaged in a heated argument as a result of this uncertainty. Gun rights activists point to a series of telephone surveys conducted in the early 1990s by a crimino...

Would gun control fewer result in fewer guns?

Yes, gun control measures can have an impact on reducing the number of guns in circulation and overall gun ownership(Would Gun Control Result in Fewer Guns?, n.d.). The effectiveness of gun control in reducing the prevalence of firearms depends on the specific policies implemented, the scope of their enforcement, and the cultural and social context in which they are applied. There are 5 ways that gun control can result in fewer guns: 1.Comprehensive background checks for all gun sales, including private transactions, can prevent individuals with criminal records, history of violence, or mental health issues from legally obtaining firearms. By screening potential buyers, background checks help ensure that only eligible and responsible individuals can purchase guns. 2.Gun control measures that include mandatory waiting periods between the time of purchase and the actual transfer of firearms allow for more thorough background checks and provide a cooling-off period, reducing impulsive gun...
