What sort of trauma due to the human body?

When a bullet or other projectile is fired into or through the body, it results in a gunshot wound. Serious injuries from gunshot wounds include:extensive bleeding, organ and tissue damage, bone fractures, infected wounds, paralysis(Neurosurgical Treatment for Gunshot Wound Head Trauma, n.d.).

The location of the injury, the bullet's speed, and its composition all affect how much damage is done. Injury from a gunshot to the head or body (torso) is likely to be more severe. Fractures and high-velocity wounds are linked to a higher risk of infection. You might have undergone surgery if the wound was serious to:reduce hemorrhage, sanitize the wound.Find and eliminate gunshot fragments.Place drains or tubes for body fluids where the fragments of broken or shattered bone were found and removed. Remove entire or partial organs.Less harm is typically done by gunshot wounds that miss the body's major organs, blood vessels, or bones.

Being shot by a gun is traumatic and also painful. You may feel shock, fear for your safety, depression, or anger as a result(Klatt, n.d.). These are completely normal feelings for someone who has been through a traumatic event. These feelings are not signs of weakness. You may notice other symptoms as well, such as:anxiety, nightmares or trouble sleeping thinking about the event over and over, irritability or being easily upset, lot having much energy or appetite, feeling sad and withdrawn. You need to care for yourself and heal emotionally as well as physically. If you feel overwhelmed by these feelings, or they last more than 3 weeks, contact your provider. If these symptoms are ongoing, they may be signs of post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD. There are treatments that can help you feel better.
