When does the guns first used?

They have been around for more than a thousand years and have influenced conflict(Tactics | Definition, Examples, History, & Facts, 1998).Around the year 850 C.E., Chinese alchemists were trying to create a "fountain of youth" potion when they unintentionally created gunpowder. Charcoal, saltpeter, and sulfur were combined to create the final powder, known as huo yao. They discovered the powder could be used for warfare very fast. Gunpowder was initially utilized by the Song Dynasty, which was in power at the time, to defeat the Mongols, whose recurrent incursions into China troubled the Chinese throughout the period.Fire lances, also known as "flying fire," were used by the Chinese to assault the Mongols. These weapons were arrows fitted with gunpowder tubes that, when lit, would fly across the enemy's lines. Over the ensuing decades, as the Chinese perfected a wide range of weaponry against the Mongols, including the first cannons and grenades, more gunpowder-based weapons were developed(Contribution, 2021).

In the 13th century, gunpowder probably traveled to Europe via the Silk Road trade routes through Central Asia. In the succeeding years, competing nations improved gunpowder formulations until they found the ideal ratio: roughly 75% saltpeter, 15% charcoal, and 10% sulfur.Armed with a powder bag and ramrod, this hand cannon from the late 14th century made it easy for a single soldier to fire. Possibly the first personal firearm was a hand cannon. The English and French troops began using crude gunpowder cannons in 1350 and exploited the explosive technology against one another during the Hundred Years' War.New and better cannons were created over the years, many of which were compact and portable. The first true personal firearm, the hand cannon, was eventually created in the early 15th century. These and other cannons were employed by the Ottoman Turks in their victorious siege of Constantinople in 1453. The robust new weapons effectively rendered Europe's ancient walled fortresses defenseless.

  1. This post is the first time I learned about the history of guns. Although it is not very familiar to us common people in Japan because of our Firearms Law, the thought of living in a country where weapons that can easily kill people are so widespread makes me feel scared. I don't have a very clear idea of how to prevent people from dying in gun-related incidents, and I look forward to learning about it in your future blog posts!

  3. The history of guns is surprising and it was very interesting to read. I didn't expect it originated from China's gunpowder. Because of America, guns give an impression of being used in the western region. In Japan, it is famous for Oda Nobunaga implementing guns to conquer the whole land. Your research was very informative and clear. Its really easy to understand. Great!
